How to Save a Cellphone/ Tablet From a Spill

Having had these accidents happen to 3 of my phones and successfully saving 2 of them, I can say I am qualified to write this guide:

Phone took a dip
Samsung Galaxy Pro, fell in the river - SAVED!
  1. Take it out of the water ASAP (obviously!)
  2. Turn it off
  3. Make sure your hand is dry. Remove back cover. Remove SIM card and memory card.
  4. Dry everything the best you can with a dry towel. Put everything on a dry towel to dry.
  5. If accessible, put the parts in a rice bag. Rice is known to suck moisture out.
  6. Everything taken into consideration, don't turn it on before 24 hours pass (at least).

Coffee fell on the phone/ tablet
Coffee with milk and sugar (stickiness emphasized) fell on my Sony XPERIA Pro - SAVED!
  1. Hold the side that was exposed to the spill so that it faces the ground ASAP!
  2. Turn it off
  3. Do the steps for "phone took a dip" with the difference being that you will keep the spilled-on side face down at all times to leak out the coffee. Try to use a clean cotton to dry the buttons that were exposed to a splash ( also keeping things face down).
