Having had these accidents happen to 3 of my phones and successfully saving 2 of them, I can say I am qualified to write this guide:
Phone took a dip
Samsung Galaxy Pro, fell in the river - SAVED!
- Take it out of the water ASAP (obviously!)
- Turn it off
- Make sure your hand is dry. Remove back cover. Remove SIM card and memory card.
- Dry everything the best you can with a dry towel. Put everything on a dry towel to dry.
- If accessible, put the parts in a rice bag. Rice is known to suck moisture out.
- Everything taken into consideration, don't turn it on before 24 hours pass (at least).
Coffee fell on the phone/ tablet
Coffee with milk and sugar (stickiness emphasized) fell on my Sony XPERIA Pro - SAVED!
- Hold the side that was exposed to the spill so that it faces the ground ASAP!
- Turn it off
- Do the steps for "phone took a dip" with the difference being that you will keep the spilled-on side face down at all times to leak out the coffee. Try to use a clean cotton to dry the buttons that were exposed to a splash ( also keeping things face down).
