Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Impressions

This update has been piloted on Nexus devices. It is the first underwhelming update.

What's new?

  • New Open GL update included in Android. This makes it easier for developers to make 2D & 3D applications besides improving performance.
  • New advanced Wi Fi features for energy saving.
  • New Bluetooth 4.0 features for saving energy and better compatibility with external sound devices.
  • Features that allow developers to limit users from doing certain actions. For example, if you have a tablet that you let your kids use to play Candy Crush, you can limit them from purchasing power-ups in the game.
My personal input is that this is bringing Android devices closer to PC maturity level, in terms of user classification controls. That's all. As far as "new" releases are concerned, we are going to wait till fall for Android 5.0 dubbed "Key Lime Pie".
