Another midrange pair of earplugs from Philips. I know that the price might put some of the readers off, but actually that isn't in anyway the highest price you can pay for a good headphone pair. Take for example the Creative Aurvana, which is actually worth every pound of the 600 pounds that make up its price. But that's a whole different story. I wish to write about that one day, because that would mean that I have got it.

This pair has a real decent unique neck strap form factor. If you have a small music player then this might be the perfect match for it. As you might notice in this photo, there is a small detachable part with a small loop. You can tie this loop to your music player ( like that small cell phone accessory , except this one has a real use ). Then you attach the jack and lock the other half of that holder. This way the weight of the music player is not straining the speaker wires, but rather rests on your neck. This is a very clever and practical design by Philips. I found the controls on the mp3 player much more accessible that way than when it was kept in my pocket with any other pair. Sound performance is pristine, coming from drivers that are quite similar to those in the SHE8500. I am not sure but I think they are the same. The two sets share the same frequency response and same SPL figures. I could notice a small sound quality edge in the SHE8500, but nothing huge. If you are looking for something that suits an active lifestyle and still get a very good sound quality, this is a headphone set with a lot of potential.
